Here are our goals for this unit.
What should you be able to do by the end of the Science Unit?
Achievement Objectives Level 2
Students should be able to:
● Group materials based on observable properties-e.g. hardness, flexibility, float/sinks
● Use words such as melt, solid, liquid, evaporate, dissolve, condensation
● Use simple technology to demonstrate and explain methods to prevent or promote changes
● Skills-measure liquids mL/use a thermometer/ record data on a table/draw graph

IALT: Group
materials based on observable properties
We used the following web resources to complete the activity below.
|
Transparent
Transparent materials do let light
through (you can see through them).
|
Opaque
Opaque materials do not let any
light through (you cannot see through them).
|
Waterproof
Waterproof materials do not let
water through and do not soak up water.
|
Absorbent
Absorbent materials soak up water
and let water pass through them.
|
Strong or weak
Strong materials are very difficult
to break.
Weak materials break easily.
|
Flexible
Flexible materials are easy to
bend.
|
Rigid / hard
Rigid materials are difficult to
bend.
Hard materials are difficult to
scratch
